Interim MDS Nurse / PPS Nurse
Job Responsibilities / Position Information for the MDS Nurse / PPS Nurse include:
- The MDS Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely completion of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments for patients. This position requires a strong understanding of clinical documentation, coding, and utilization management to facilitate high-quality patient care. The MDS Coordinator will work closely with clinical leadership to maintain compliance with regulatory standards while optimizing patient outcomes.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patient data to complete MDS documentation accurately and efficiently.
- Review clinical documentation to ensure it aligns with coding standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including nursing and case management, to gather necessary information for MDS submissions.
- Manage and oversee the utilization management process, ensuring appropriate resource allocation for patient care.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of MDS guidelines and changes in regulations affecting documentation practices.
- Provide training and support to clinical staff on MDS processes and best practices.
- Analyze data trends from MDS submissions to identify areas for improvement in patient care services.
Skills
- Proficient in medical coding and familiar with relevant coding systems.
- Strong background in clinical settings in Long Term Care/SNF.
- Excellent documentation review skills with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to patient assessments.
- Experience in case management and understanding of utilization management principles.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while demonstrating strong organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for interaction with healthcare professionals and patients alike.
