About the Role:

The Activity Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents at Park Manor South Belt by planning, organizing, and facilitating engaging recreational and social activities. This position focuses on promoting physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being through diverse programs tailored to the interests and abilities of individuals in a healthcare setting. The Activity Assistant collaborates closely with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure activities are safe, inclusive, and supportive of residents’ overall care plans. By fostering a positive and stimulating environment, the Activity Assistant helps residents maintain independence, build social connections, and experience joy in their daily lives. This role requires compassion, creativity, and strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents and the care team in a respectful and professional manner.

Sunday, Monday and Wednesday 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare, senior living, or recreational setting is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Basic knowledge of activity planning and implementation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare staff.
  • Physical ability to assist residents and manage activity setups.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in recreational therapy or related field preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with elderly or individuals with cognitive or physical impairments.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a healthcare environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities that cater to the diverse needs and preferences of residents.
  • Assist residents in participating safely and confidently in scheduled activities, providing encouragement and support as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, resident participation, and any observations related to residents’ responses to activities.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff, therapists, and family members to tailor activities that align with individual care plans and health requirements.
  • Prepare and organize materials and spaces required for activities, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
  • Monitor residents during activities to ensure safety and intervene promptly if any issues arise.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay informed about best practices and new activity ideas.
