About the Role:
The Director of Nurses at Deerbrook Skilled Nursing & Rehab Center is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing the nursing department to ensure the delivery of high-quality, compassionate patient care. This role involves strategic planning, staff management, and regulatory compliance to maintain and enhance clinical standards within the facility. The Director of Nurses will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement policies that promote patient safety and improve health outcomes. Additionally, this position requires continuous evaluation of nursing practices and staff performance to foster professional development and operational excellence. Ultimately, the Director of Nurses ensures that the nursing team operates efficiently and effectively, aligning with the center’s mission to provide exceptional rehabilitation and healthcare services.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Skilled Nursing Facility & DON experience required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree required; Master’s degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare regulations, patient care standards, and quality improvement processes.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
- Certification in Nursing Leadership or Administration (e.g., Nurse Executive Certification).
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare management software.
- Experience in budget management and strategic planning within a healthcare setting.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and manage the nursing staff to maintain a high standard of patient care and professional conduct.
- Develop, implement, and monitor nursing policies, procedures, and protocols in compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
- Coordinate with medical directors, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated and patient-centered care plans.
- Oversee staffing schedules, recruitment, and training programs to ensure adequate coverage and continuous professional development.
- Conduct regular audits and quality assurance activities to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively to support nursing operations and departmental goals.
- Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, administration, patients, and families to address concerns and improve service delivery.
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes to maintain compliance and enhance nursing practices.
