Deerbrook Skilled Nursing Home holds blood drive to support Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

Supporting Blood Cancer Awareness month, local nursing home completes successful blood drive!

Deerbrook of Humble Skilled Nursing Home holds blood drive to support Leukemia and Lymphoma Society(Humble, Texas)—In recognizing Blood Cancer Awareness month, staff and families of Deerbrook Skilled Nursing facility in Humble lined up to a team of smiling nurses to give blood as part of Leukemia and Lymphoma Society annual blood drive.

September is Blood Cancer Awareness month where our team members have been challenged to participate with fundraising drive and blood drives.

“We had so many family members and staff come out to support the drive, it was very touching to see so many people. Everyone has experienced the pain cancer causes, personally, with a loved one, or a friend who is battling this disease,” said Jennifer Glaze, Director of Business Development at Deerbrook facility.

HMG Healthcare, LLC is committed to supporting Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and their mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Similar blood and fundraising efforts are happening at each of our facilities.

Back to School Kits for Children at Northgate Plaza

Irving, Texas (August 20, 2014) – Back to School Parties are happening all around Texas and Kansas at our HMG nursing facilities. Recently at our Irving facility, Northgate Plaza employees enjoyed a pizza and treat break with their children to celebrate going back to school on Friday. “The children enjoyed spending some time with their parents at work and not mention all of the residents who loved spending time with the children.” Teri Karr, Administrator said “We gave every employee school supplies for their children to ensure a successful start to the school year. Just one way we can give back to our community.”

HMG Healthcare is replicating this back to school event at all facilities in making sure students are prepared for the first day and create an exciting buzz of another school year.

Park Manor The Woodlands Thanks State Rep. Brandon Creighton for Touring the Skilled Nursing Facility and Meeting with Caregivers and Residents

As Election Day nears, long term care providers encourage state leaders to address challenges facing healthcare profession.

 

The Woodlands, TX ( July 21, 2014) – During a tour of Park Manor The Woodlands skilled nursing facility recently, Rep. Brandon Creighton R-Conroe, met with long term care providers, frontline caregivers and elderly residents to discuss senior care in Texas.

“We thank Representative Brandon Creighton for visiting Park Manor and meeting with our residents, family members and caregiving staff to discuss how we can work together to improve our state’s growing challenges in caring for The Woodlands area most vulnerable seniors,” said Arron Horton, administrator of Park Manor The Woodlands.

Creighton, who is running for Senate District 4 in a special election to be held August 5, thanked Park Manor staff for the opportunity to see first-hand the quality of care delivered to frail elderly residents and listened to concerns regarding caring for local residents.

“Many citizens, including many of our policymakers in Austin, do not fully realize the complex situation facing our long term care profession, and facilities across Texas,” Derek Prince, President of HMG Healthcare, said. “We appreciate Representative Creighton taking the time to visit our facility and observe the dedication and commitment to care excellence from our management and staff. We look forward to continuing to work with Rep. Creighton to ensure every senior in our district receives the quality care they need, when they need it.”

Arlington, TX (June 1, 2014) – In thanking State Senator Brian Birdwell (R-22) for touring Arbrook Plaza, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility, and meeting with residents and staff, local long term care leaders noted the facility’s recent accomplishment of being listed as one of the best nursing homes in the country by the well-respected U.S. News and World Report 2014 evaluation of quality care in America’s nursing homes.

“We were happy to share the news of our top ranking in U.S. News and World Report’s 2014 evaluation of the quality of care in America’s nursing homes with Senator Birdwell during his visit to Arbrook Plaza,” said Renato Gomes, facility administrator for Arbrook Plaza located in Arlington. “In addition to our overall ranking, we are proud to have earned the highest score possible in the category of quality measures. We appreciate Senator Birdwell taking the time to congratulate our staff and see firsthand the high level of care we provide to our senior residents at Arbrook Plaza.”

Noting the recent local Memorial Day celebrations, Birdwell, a retired Lt. Colonel and decorated war veteran, stopped to exchange combat stories with Arbor Plaza resident Perry Cummings, a WWII veteran.
